North Shore Art League’s Art in the Village 2025: A Vibrant Celebration of Creativity and
Community!
Art in the Village, sponsored by the North Shore Art League took place at Hubbard Woods Park
in Winnetka on June 21 and 22 from 10 am – 5 pm. NSAL, celebrating 101 years in the
community and located in the historic Community House in Winnetka, was proud to host the 12th
annual juried show. It was a beautiful weekend for a summer art fair - in the middle of the
Village’s Hubbard Woods Design District. The boutique exhibition featured artists from across
the country who showcased their work, including oil paintings, mixed media, photography,
sculpture, jewelry, and more. Delicious treats baked by the nuns of St. Roger Abbey were
available for purchase at the fair, and Momsy’s Café treated attendees to freshly baked cookies.
As an added attraction, on both Saturday and Sunday, NSAL faculty member and portrait artist
Lisa DePinto was on-site to paint quick oil portraits for both children and adults. A silent auction
invited attendees to bid on donated work from the artists. Gift certificates were donated from
local Winnetka businesses and restaurants for a raffle. All proceeds from the silent auction and
raffle were donated to the North Shore Art League and their educational outreach.
Professional NSAL artists Bill Marvin and Corey Postiglione served as judges for the annual
show. They said, “As judges, we were honored to be asked to review and decide the awards for
this show. It was a pleasure to see such high quality works, presented so well and representing
such a wide range of mediums. This is a serious fine art show!” Artists were presented
certificates and prize checks by North Shore Art League’s Executive Director Linda Nelson and
Communications Manager Sophie Candido. Prize winners were as follows: first place – Jenny
Henley, Satsuma, FL, second place – Jonathan Rutledge, Evanston, IL, and third place –
Glenna Adkins, Fort Thomas, KY. Honorable mentions went to Stephanee Ann, Fort Myers, FL,
Jim Cook, Fremont, MI, Andrew Sechin, Oak Park, IL, Anthony Vecchioni, Chicago, IL, and Jie
Zhou, Kingwood, TX.
Members of the NSAL Board, staff, and volunteers were on hand to help with everything from
setting up the show to monitoring the silent auction. Linda Nelson, NSAL Executive Director said
“What a wonderful weekend of art! We were thrilled with the caliber of the artists the jury chose
to participate this year, as were the crowds. Sweltering heat didn’t deter from the enjoyment of
seeing beautiful art from all over the country. Our board, staff and loyal volunteers helped to
make it a great success!”
