The Cook County Assessor is open for the filing of Northfield Township 2025 property tax appeals now through July 31, 2025. As part of the 2025 triennial reassessment for Northfield Township, you were sent an assessment notice from Cook County with an updated property assessed value. You can also verify your new assessed value online at cookcountyassessor.com. Your new 2025 assessed value is for property taxes payable beginning in 2026.

Your assessed value is an estimated fair market value of what the Cook County Assessor believes your property is worth in the current real estate market. This assessed value is the base amount used to calculate your share of property taxes.

There are several reasons for filing an appeal including: lack of uniformity (you believe the assessed value of your property is NOT equitable with comparable properties); overvaluation (you believe your property is overvalued, provide supporting documentation such as a recent closing statement or purchase prices of similar homes) or incorrect property description (this includes information such as square footage, number of rooms, age, etc.).

An appeal is intended to correct the accuracy of your assessment. An increase (or decrease) in your home's assessment does not lead to the same increase (or decrease) in your property taxes.
